FAQ About RUSH

1. What is RUSH?

Rush is a formal period of time for women who are interested in Delta Phi Lambda and the UCF Greek system to find out if D Phi L is right for them. It's an opportunity for you to meet us and for us to meet you. It's also a great way for you, the Rushee, to ask any questions you may have about D Phi L, the Greek system, or sorority life in general.

2. Do I have to pay to rush?

Nope! All rush week activities and rides are free to the Rushee. There are no obligations, just a chance for you to get to know us and us to know you!

3. Do I have to be Asian American or Pacific Islander to join D Phi L?

Nope! Our sorority is proud to have Sisters that have a wide array of diverse backgrounds, interests, and talents. Each Sister brings a unique aspect and view point to our diverse Sisterhood. Even though we are an “Asian American Interest Sorority,” that in no way means that we are exclusive only to Asians. Therefore, we encourage and invite all women to join, regardless of ethnicity!

4. If I Rush, do I have to pledge?

As a Rushee, you are under no obligation to pledge D Phi L. Though we do hope that you like our sorority and that it feels right for you, it sometimes may not. We understand that D Phi L may not be right for everyone, but at least we all got to meet new people and make new friends!

5. How often do you RUSH?

We typically rush Fall and Spring semesters, and sometimes Summer semesters.

6. What are rush events?

Rush events are events set up by the Sisters of the active house in order for you, the Rushee, to meet us and get to know what we, the Sisters of UCF D Phi L, and what our sorority is about. Although we hope that you would attend all of our rush events, we understand that it may not be possible, therefore we encourage you to attend as many as you can. We require that a Rushee attend at least 2/3 of our events to show that you are serious about our sorority.

7. How do I go from a Rushee to a Pledge?

There is our Rush period in which you get to meet the Sisters and we get to meet you. During Rush, there are multiple fun Rush Events that are free in which you're invited to attend. There will be an interview night in which you will be interviewed by the Sisters of the Sorority. If you cannot attend all rush events you may want to ask what night this will be held so you don't miss out on this important part of the Rush process! Rushees that have gone through the interview process may then be offered a Bid to pledge our sorority. If one receives a bid, it is their decision to pledge, defer, or decline.
