Active: A Sister who has fully completed the new member education process of Delta Phi Lambda with full-time membership status.
Alumni/Alumnae: A Sister of the Delta Phi Lambda that has graduated from college.
Associate: A Sister who has fully completed the new member education process of our sorority but has part-time membership status.
Big Sister: An older fully initiated Sister of the sorority who takes you on as their Little Sister and allows you to be a part of their family line.
Bid: An official invitation inviting one to pledge.
Crossing: The completion of the new member education process in which a pledge is no longer a pledge but an official SISTER.
New Member Education Process: A process in which a pledge learns more about the sorority, the Sisters, and sorority traditions.
Pledge: A member of the sorority who has not yet completed the new member education process and therefore is not yet an official member.
Pledge Mom: A fully initiated Sister of the sorority who oversees and guides you and your pledge sisters throughout your new member education process.
Pledge Sister: A fellow pledge (or upon crossing, sister) who pledges the same quarter as you.
Rush: An official period of time (during the beginning of the fall or spring semester) in which events are set up by the Sisters to allow those interested in joining our sorority a chance to get to know the Sisters as well as a chance for the Sisters to get to know the rushees.
Rushee: One who takes part in Rush activities and events.
